In the summer, bluegrass musicians perform for Shindig on the Green (in its 42nd year now) which is a celebration of the Southern Appalachian Mountains cultural heritage. Family and friends bring their lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy music, clog dancers, ballad singers, storytellers and other live performances. Shindig on the Green has been voted #1 local outdoor concert. Also, most Fridays throughout the year, drummers get together in Prichard Park for the Drum Circle. You can bring your own drums and join in or juts dance to the free beats. Plus, the Montford Park Players, North Carolina’s longest running Shakespeare Festival, presents outdoor theater performances like Midsummer Night’s Dream and Cymbeline.
